Expansion: your choice is critical
Since 1927 Teddington has been at the forefront of expansion bellows. 1968 saw it supply the first bellows to an LNG tanker in Kockums Shipyard, Sweden. It laid the foundation for Teddington to become the most experienced bellows expansion joint manufacturer in the global LNG market.
Working closely with industry leading pipework designers GTT and specialist approval bodies ABS, BV, DNV and Lloyds, Teddington has engineered an extensive range of expansion joint solutions for a variety of companies, including Daewoo, Hyundai, Kvaerner and Samsung.
Teddington established the prototype testing procedure to engineer the first ‘test-rig’ to prove the design of bellows for use in onshore and offshore LNG projects.
In addition to fillet welds, Teddington also developed the butt weld joint, facilitating better X-ray examination to prove the integrity of attachment welds.
Under IMCO code guidelines, welds should be fully examined. Teddington butt welds can undergo complete examination by X-ray, rather than only partial examination possible with fillet welds. This ensures total reliability.
Adhering to EJMA codes of practice, Teddington has a 100 per cent in-service operation record during 40 years of LNG expansion solutions.
Since incorporating Genflex, Vokes and Brockington & Scott, Teddington joints are now the most proven compensators in service in the European and Far East markets.
